Otolaryngologists

Otolaryngology, also known as ENT (ear, nose, and throat), is the medical
and surgical specialty focused on diagnosing and treating disorders of the
ear, nose, throat, and head and neck.
The full term for this specialty is otorhinolaryngology, which includes the
Greek roots "oto-" for ear, "rhino-" for nose, and "laryng-" for throat.
This term reflects its focus on the study of the ear and throat.
Practitioners in this field are accurately called otolaryngologists–head and
neck surgeons, as they are trained experts in surgical conditions of the
head and neck. Some may simply refer to it as head and neck surgery.
The Malaysian Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head Neck Surgeons is a
professional organization representing medical doctors specializing in this
field in Malaysia.
The society is actively involved in providing continuous medical education (CME)
for ENT surgeons, general practitioners, and allied health professionals.
Additionally, it conducts annual health camps in various regions of the
country to offer ENT treatment services to rural populations.
Furthermore, the society serves as the primary advocate for ENT surgeons in
Malaysia, engaging with the government and other non-governmental
organizations (NGOs). Its participation in international congresses and
conferences contributes to its global presence and relationships.
