UMC ServiceMaster Sdn Bhd traces its roots back to 1989 when it was established by the United Engineers Limited group of Companies (UEL) as the regional licensee for The ServiceMaster Company, USA.

In 1997, UMC ServiceMaster Sdn Bhd commenced operations in Malaysia, initially focusing on providing support services to nine government hospitals under the Ministry of Health's privatization initiative for non-clinical services. These services included Plant Operations and Maintenance, Clinical Equipment Maintenance, Housekeeping, Laundry, and Clinical Waste Management across East and West Malaysia.

Over the years, UMC ServiceMaster has expanded its scope to offer integrated facility management services to a diverse range of sectors including commercial, manufacturing, oil & gas, telecommunication, and education.

In 2005, UEL divested a 30% share of its stake in four subsidiaries of UMC ServiceMaster group to Mitsui & Co. Ltd Group (Mitsui). This partnership resulted in the formation of a 70/30 joint venture company named UE Managed Solutions Pte. Ltd. Leveraging the corporate strengths of UEL and Mitsui, this strategic alliance positions UMC ServiceMaster Sdn Bhd to deliver top-quality and innovative solutions to customers in Malaysia.
