Founded in 1982, Kotra Pharma initially focused on pharmaceutical product distribution in Malaysia before expanding into manufacturing in 1985. Over the years, it has earned a strong reputation as a reliable manufacturer and distributor of both prescribed and non-prescribed pharmaceuticals.

A significant milestone was achieved in October 2000 when Kotra Pharma was listed on MESDAQ (The Malaysian Exchange of Securities Dealing & Automated Quotation Berhad).

Presently, Kotra Pharma boasts 151 products registered with the National Pharmaceutical Control Bureau (NPCB). Notably, its investment in building the Appeton brand has established a prominent presence in children's health supplements, making it a leading brand in Malaysia and across East Asia.

The Appeton range extends beyond children's vitamins to encompass healthcare products catering to various age groups, including prenatal and geriatric supplements. Additionally, Kotra Pharma manufactures and distributes prescribed products under the Axcel and Vaxcel brands, covering 24 therapeutic classes.

In recent years, the company has expanded its operations to include a separate facility for manufacturing sterile and small volume injectables, including cephalosporin products.
