Perdana University
Perdana University is a private university established under the Private
Higher Educational Institutions Act 1996 [Act 555] and registered with the
Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. Perdana University was established as
a result of a public private partnership initiative by the Public Private
Partnership Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department of Malaysia and Academic
Medical Centre Sdn Bhd (AMC).
Perdana University offers two world-class medical schools. The first medical
school, Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine (PUGSOM) offers, for
the first time in Malaysia, a four-year graduate entry programme based on a
US curriculum in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins University School of
Medicine.
The second medical school, PU-RCSI School of Medicine – will offer a
five-year programme based on a conventional curriculum in collaboration with
the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI).
The Life Sciences Research Centre of Perdana University is affiliated with
Johns Hopkins Research Centre. The centre will not only enable local
students to acquire the necessary skills of research early in their career
but place Malaysia in the global research community. Once the centre is
fully operational, its services will complement those of other Medical and
Biotechnology Research Centres in Malaysia.
The 600-bed Perdana University Hospital affiliated with Johns Hopkins
Medicine International will be the first private teaching hospital in
Malaysia. It will include a full complement of ambulatory care facilities,
diagnostic capabilities and ancillary support services and will be
operational in 2014.
The permanent campus of Perdana University sits on a 141-acre site, adjacent
to the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS). The campus is located
36 km from Kuala Lumpur city centre and within proximity of Malaysia’s
national development areas like Putrajaya and Cyberjaya will be ready by end
of 2013. Convention buildings at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS)
have been renovated into lecture halls, classrooms, teaching labs,
discussion rooms and offices to serve as interim facilities.
