Introduction

Occupational Therapy services at Hospital Kuala Lumpur commenced in 1972 at the NeuroPsychiatric Institute, expanding over the years to various specialized units within the hospital. In 1978, the Physical Dysfunction Unit was established at the Orthopedics Institute, followed by the addition of a unit at the Pediatrics Institute in 1988. Subsequently, specialized units were introduced at the Respiratory Institute in 1989, the Spinal Injuries Unit in K9 in the same year, and finally, the Burns Unit under the guidance of Dato Mahmud in 1995.
