Introduction

The mission of the Emergency & Trauma Department at Hospital Kuala Lumpur is dedicated to preserving patients' lives by delivering prompt, aggressive, and effective emergency care. This involves employing interventional procedures to stabilize patients before proceeding with further management, such as surgery or definitive treatment.

Scope of Services

The department's services are categorized as follows:

1. Acute Emergency Medical Care
2. Support Services
3. Administrative and Medico-Legal Services

Patient treatment is classified into three zones:

1. Non-Critical Zone (Green Zone)
2. Semi-Critical Zone (Yellow Zone)
3. Critical Zone (Red Zone)

Comprehensive medical care encompasses:

1. Asthma Bay: Catering to asthmatics experiencing mild asthma attacks.
2. One Stop Crisis Centre (O.S.C.C): Specialized in handling cases of rape, battered women, and battered children. Social workers and NGOs provide counseling and support.
3. Pre-Hospital Services
4. Disaster Management: Equipped to manage any disaster, including the operation room's activation. The department coordinates search and rescue operations and serves as a medical base station.
5. Follow-up Clinic: Provides follow-up care for patients with uncomplicated fractures, operating daily except Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
6. Operation Theater: Utilized for both emergency and elective surgeries.
7. Outpatient Clinic: Managed by outpatient department doctors after regular office hours.
8. Call Centre: Facilitates telemedicine, telecommunications, inter-hospital referrals to Kuala Lumpur Hospital, and collaboration with Red Crescent Society, St. John's Ambulance, and JPA 3.

1. Pharmacy Counter: Provides 24-hour pharmacy services for patients.
2. X-ray Room

Wards include:

1. Observation Ward
2. Intermediate Care
3. Resuscitation Ward
