Clinical Research Center
Introduction
The Network of Clinical Research Centres (CRC) operates as one of the six
research institutes administered by the Ministry of Health Malaysia under
the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Its establishment dates back to the
year 2000, and since then, it has expanded to encompass 27 branches located
within major hospitals across Malaysia, with its central administration
situated at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
Vision & Mission of CRC
- To emerge as a leading clinical research organization in Asia.
- To enhance patients’ health outcomes through the ethical and high-quality
execution of clinical research.
- To attract biotechnology companies and contract research organizations to
engage in clinical research endeavors within Malaysia.
Roles of CRC
- Promotion, support, and execution of investigator-initiated research (IIR)
by healthcare providers within the Ministry of Health.
- Coordination and facilitation of industrial-sponsored clinical trials.
- Development of clinical data resources.
Research & Management Units of CRC
Clinical Epidemiology Unit (CEU)
The CEU fulfills clinicians’ requirements by conducting non-experimental
clinical studies oriented toward patients, encompassing diagnostic and
prognostic investigations.

Patient Registry Unit (PRU)
The PRU advocates for and supports the establishment and operation of
clinical databases and patient registries within Malaysia, serving as
valuable clinical data repositories.

Healthcare Statistics Unit (HSU)
The HSU aids in the execution of healthcare statistical surveys aimed at
gathering data on healthcare services, physical infrastructure, human
resources, medications, and medical technology available within the country.
Furthermore, HSU contributes to enhancing Malaysia’s statistical capacity,
thereby fostering evidence-based policymaking and decision-making processes.

The CTU facilitates and supports Investigator-Initiated Trials (IIT) while
coordinating a wide array of methodological, technical, and project
management services essential for ensuring the successful completion of
