Orthopedic technicians are employed in trauma and orthopedic clinics, where
they are responsible for applying plastering techniques to patients. These
casts are typically utilized after accidents or surgeries, or for specific
orthopedic conditions.
Apart from Plaster of Paris, various other materials such as fiberglass,
polypropylene, and polyester substrates may be employed in the casting
process.
Candidates for these positions must have prior experience working in a
trauma and orthopedic clinic. They are typically recommended by an
orthopedic consultant to undergo suitable training courses.
