University Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC)

The Faculty of Medicine was established on 30 May 1972, serving as a medical
institution dedicated to medical and nursing training, research, and
clinical services under the leadership of a Dean. Initially, clinical
training for medical students and medical services provided by faculty
members were conducted at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL), acting as a teaching
hospital.
In 1997, Hospital UKM (HUKM) was founded as the primary teaching hospital
for the Faculty of Medicine, UKM. The administrative structure of HUKM was
distinct from the faculty, with its leadership held by a Hospital Director.
Initially, one officer held both the positions of Dean and Hospital
Director, but since 1998, separate individuals have occupied these roles.
However, on 20 February 2008, the Faculty of Medicine and HUKM merged to
form a new entity known as Pusat Perubatan UKM (PPUKM) or UKM Medical Centre
(UKMMC), guided by the motto: Integrating Education and Research for
Society. The PPUKM is led by a Dean cum Director, responsible for managing
the full spectrum of academic, research, and clinical services at the
center.
The Dean cum Director is supported by a Chief of Operations, tasked with
ensuring the smooth day-to-day administration of HUKM and assisting with
administrative duties within the hospital.
