Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun is the General
Hospital in Ipoh, Perak. The Hospital is the largest hospital in
Perak and third largest in Malaysia after
Hospital Kuala
Lumpur and
Hospital Pulau Pinang with a capacity of 990 beds, 16 operating
room, 16 bed adult intensive care unit, 8 bed coronary care units,
17 bed intensive care unit of a child (PICU) and 20 extra neonatal
care unit.
History of the Hospital
Raja Permaisuri Bainun began in 1891 as the Hospital District known
as Hospital Ipoh with a capacity of 50 beds only. The hospital was
upgraded as the State Hospital in 1942. 8-storey main building was
completed in 1980. The hospital was renamed to Hospital Raja
Permaisuri Bainun on June 12, 2008.
Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun provides specialized services in all
areas of expertise as well as sub-specialties such as nephrology,
respiratory medicine, hematology, neuro surgery, plastic surgery,
and pediatric surgery. Imaging services with CT scan and MRI
equipment mammography machine.
